(Elk Horn, IA) — The rest is over for the Exira EHK football team — after a bye week, the Spartans are back in action tonight hosting Coon Rapids Bayard.
Exira EHK lost in week one to Sidney 52-24 but rebounded against East Mills 46-27. Head Coach Drew Buckholdt says he prioritized the fundamentals over the last week
Right now Exira EHK is riding the combination of QB Bryce Brabham and TE Josten Kilworth. They can both play QB, they can both run, they can both catch. Brabham has 206 yards rushing and 6 TD and has 2 catches for 27 yards while Kilworth has 40 yards rushing but 6 catches for 184 yards and 2 TD. Buckholdt says that the Spartans go as those two go
On defense, Kilworth has 17 tackles with 5 TFLs and a forced fumble. Buckholdt is also getting another body — Senior Preston White is back out for football and healthy again — his last two seasons were cut short because of injuries and Buckholdt says he will provide depth on the lines
Tonight, Exira EHK will host Coon Rapids Bayard coming off their 6 point loss to CAM after thumping Siouxland Christian 60-0. The Crusaders are led by #1 Senior Tailback Ethan Bauer with 179 yards rushing and 6 TD and #6 Junior QB Caden Oswald with 202 yards rushing and 5 TD and 162 yards passing and 2 more scores. Buckholdt says they have athletes all over the field
Exira EHK is 1-1 and Coon Rapids Bayard is 1-1
