(Clarion, Iowa) One person died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Wright County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 7:19 p.m. on Sunday on R-38 eight miles south of Clarion. Authorities say 36-year-old Michael Mendez-Mendez, of Webster City, died in the crash. The injured are identified as 20-year-old Antoni Emmanuel Castanon-Coronado and 24-year-old Josue Castanon-Coronado.
According to the repor,t Josue Castanon-Coronado was driving a 2009 Chevy Cobalt south on R38 when the passenger side of the car dropped off the edge of the road. Coronado overcorrected, lost control, causing the vehicle to strike a utility pole, enter a cornfield, and catch fire.
All of the occupants were ejected from the car.
