(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors had a full agenda on Tuesday. County Engineer Josh Sebern reported that the County has been awarded two different grants worth $13,000 for a truck and a flat bed to spray brush along the county roads although Sebern says only 2 of the 4 federal grants he applied for were granted
The Supervisors voted unanimously to accept the grants.
Sebern also says that the paving on Highway P48 from Dexter to Interstate 80 is almost complete — just some shoulder work to do. Sebern says they are also installing a new metal covert north of Casey.
The Supervisors also approved a tax abatement for a parcel of land near Yale. They approved a 2nd payment on a storm shelter. Health Services Director Jotham Arbor says that the county is in the process of changing companies for its electronic health records that will save the county money — he says they have to give the old service 60 days notice. And they heard from a prospective new mental health advocate Brett Michael who covers patients requiring care under the judicial system from area counties — Michael could potentially start working on cases in Guthrie County but the supervisors did not make a final decision on his employment.
