(Ida Grove, IA) — Tri Center is entering into De Jean territory tonight as the Trojans visit OABCIG in Week #2, coverage on KSOM.
Tri Center beat the other Falcons team St. Albert 49-21 last week. Junior QB AJ Harder threw for 304 yards, 3 TD and no interceptions. Senior Zach Nelson had 12 catches for 143 yards and 2 TD. Senior Cael Witt had 6 receptions for 116 yards and a TD. While the passing game was in good form, Tri Center has apparently found a running back. It was a breakout game for Junior Adan Goldapp — 25 carries for 207 yards and 3 TD. Carter who? Head Coach Steve Peterson
Peterson says that all Goldapp needed was an opportunity and he took advantage of it
Junior Jayden Johnson led the defense with 7 tackles, all of them solo. Peterson says they just have to improve on their tackling and wants to force more turnovers — Tri Center only had one against St. Albert.
The Trojan defense will have to face a couple of weapons for OABCIG tonight — the Falcons have multiple weapons on offense
OABCIG beat Ridge View last week 24-7 — QB Raif Jensen threw for 128 yards, 2 TD and 2 INT and ran for 144 and 2 more scores. Head Coach Larry Allen says Jensen had a personal stake in the week one victory
Jensen’s main target is Junior Jaxx DeJean who is Cooper’s younger brother — DeJean had 3 catches for 58 yards and a TD. DeJean is actually half a foot taller than his famous brother
Senior Kade Spotts compliments Jensen and DeJean in the offense at tailback and Spotts leads the defense at middle linebacker — he had 3 tackles for a loss against Ridge View.
OABCIG must find a way to match up against Tri Center’s two receivers — if they cannot, the Falcons will have to find a way to get to Harder and Allen doesn’t rule out sending the kitchen sink
OABCIG alum Cooper DeJean is now in Philadelphia playing for the Eagles. With the Falcons, he accomplished so much leading the team to back to back state championships in 2019 and 2020 — not to mention what he did in other sports — and then becoming a legend at the University of Iowa. Allen says his legacy at this high school is unmatched
Tri Center is ranked #5 in Class 1A; OABCIG is #2 in Class 2A, game time tonight is at 7 pm, Scouting Report at 5; In the Huddle at 5:15; Pre Game at 6:30, audio only broadcast on 96.5 FM KSOM.
