(Treynor, IA) — Treynor got an impressive 42-8 win over Riverside to open the season. Despite the victory, the Cardinals actually slipped one spot in the Radio Iowa High School Football poll from #7 to #8 in Class 1A. Two Cardinals ran for over a hundred yards against the Bulldogs — Senior Drew Meyers had five carries for 121 yards and two TD that included an 84 yard TD runs and Senior Jett Sornson ran 15 times for 109 yards and one score. Treynor Head Coach Jeff Casey says it does not hurt to have two backs that can take it the distance
In his first game as a starting quarterback, Senior Ethan Hill was 13-16 passing for 158 yards, 3 TD and no interceptions plus he added 18 yards rushing. Casey says that Hill was extremely efficient
Jaxon Gordon did get his yardage against Treynor, running for 139 yards but Casey says while the defense bent a little, they did not break
Treynor faces another ranked opponent this week, visiting 2A #8 Van Meter.
