(Glenwood) Glenwood Head Coach Cory Faust says he’s eager to kick off the new season after a disappointing 3-6 finish a year ago. Faust felt the team fell short of its goals last fall, and the Rams will look to reset when they travel to Atlantic for a non-district matchup Friday night.
The Rams have two quarterbacks vying for a spot in the mix. Coach Faust says Ben Carlo will get the start. Carlo completed 6-6 passes last season for 97 yards. Faust says Haze Stephens will also see the field.
Coach Faust looks forward to the return of Scott Reed, who missed the previous season due to an injury. He added the 5’11, 200-pound senior running back returns to the lineup in great shape.
The Rams return two all-district receivers in Caden Crouch and Jack Johnson. Last season, Johnson caught 40 passes for 536 yards and four touchdowns. Crouch hauled in 34 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns.
One of the bright spots is the Rams’ offensive line. Coach Faust mentions the wealth of experience returning from what was a young corps one year ago. Faust says the offensive line will play a vital role in the team’s success on Friday night and for the entire season.
Atlantic edged the Ram 35-34 in overtime at Glenwood last season. Coach Faust expresses his respect for Coach Brummer and the team, describing them as an Atlantic team that plays hard, is physical, runs to the ball, and does all the things good football teams do.
