(Neola, IA) — The high school football pre-season rankings are out and Tri Center — the state champion in Class A last year is ranked #5 in Class 1A this year. The Trojans a high powered offense with Junior Quarterback AJ Harder and two Senior Wide Receivers Cael Witt and Zach Nelson who both caught over 70 passes for over 1100 yards a year ago. However, Tri Center got the majority of their first downs on the ground with Carter Kunze and he is now at Grand View University. New Head Coach Steve Peterson admits he does not have a true number one starter right now so he will go with with a combination of Adan Goldapp and Kane Daughenbaugh
One player who was under utilized last year was Jayden Johnson who is now a Senior. Johnson only had three receptions last season but Peterson expects that to increase this year
On defense, Tri Center loses some key seniors like Athan Chessmore but Johnson will move to a new position from Defensive End and Aydan Osbahr will be anchoring in the defensive line says Pederson
Tri Center opens their season this Friday against St. Albert.
