(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC will open their volleyball season tonight as they visit Van Meter in a West Central Conference match up. The Chargers are coming off a 20-11 season but lost key starters in key positions. Shay Lemke played setter a year ago and had an incredible 637 assists. New Head Coach Caley Vaughan decided to move Becca Littler from libero to setter this year and everybody is gain confidence in her abilities including her
The new libero is Junior Ilana Baumert who did have 134 digs last year. Whoever gets the ball, the Chargers will try to set up Junior Stella Largent and take advantage of her power — 443 kills last season. She does not put too much pressure on herself to produce similar numbers this year
When teams are covering Largent, AC/GC can turn to Senior Camydn Richter who had 202 kills last year. Richter says this team has something to prove despite 20 wins — they lost in the regional quarterfinals
AC/GC faces a tough Bulldog team tonight that went 21-8 last year but lose 5 senior starters.
