(NAFB) Following estimates of a record corn crop in Ohio and a near-record in both corn and soybeans in South Dakota on Monday, results were more mixed for Pro Farmer Crop Tour Scouts yesterday (Tues) in Nebraska and Indiana.
Western Leg Tour Leader Chip Flory says those diseases limit the crop’s ability to finish.
Right now, the predictions are large. On corn, it’s 179.5, up from last year but in line with the three-year average. Soybean pod counts in a three-by-three area are about 15 percent higher than a year ago. On the Eastern Leg in Indiana and Illinois, longtime Scout Bryan Coffman from Iowa was impressed with the corn.
Yield predictions show Indiana shattering the 2021 record at 193.8, up 3.5 percent from 2024. In regards to soybeans.
As they moved into Illinois, the slow beans he referenced showed in the Indiana pod counts at 1,373 in a three-by-three-foot area, down 3.5 percent from a year ago.
