(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley had a young football team last year that went 1-7 so with the majority of players coming back in 2025 there is hope for more success. Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh says that he had a better turnout this summer than he has had in the past
Longabaugh used a rotation last season at tailback so that position is still a work in progress and there are spots on the offensive line where kids are battling for a starter spot but the quarterback is set with Senior Wyatt Mendenhall back and Longabaugh says he has been an asset in more than just playing on the field
Southwest Valley is in Class A District 7 with AC/GC, AHSTW, Central Decatur, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley and Riverside. The Timberwolves have only won three games in the last two seasons so Longabaugh says this team is trying to turn things around and have a winner’s mentality
Southwest Valley will open their season next Friday, August 29 hosting Red Oak.
