(Avoca, IA) — 2024 was an eventful season for the AHSTW football. A stunning mid season resignation by then Head Coach G.G. Harris could have sent the team into a tailspin but it didn’t and the Vikings finished 6-3 and made it to the playoffs.
This year, Davis Pattee returns to the sidelines as Head Coach — Pattee took the Vikings to the Dome twice in his seven seasons but he says its time to forget the past both good and bad and get this football team looking forward
Gone is two quarterbacks from last year — Camden Soukop started the year at the position and Luke Sternberg finished the year there — Sternberg led the team in rushing with 1,424 yards. The job now falls to Sophomore Dayton Osbahr who did play QB some when Soukop went down and then Osbahr got hurt. Pattee is happy about his development
AHSTW moves down from 1A to A in District 7 with AC/GC, Central Decatur, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley, Riverside and Southwest Valley. Before the games count, Pattee wants his team to be physical to a point
AHSTW will have a scrimmage at Tri Center on Friday, August 22 and they open the season Friday, August 29 hosting Logan Magnolia.
