(Atlantic) KSOM/KS95 News continues its weekly spotlight on the Vision Atlantic initiative – an $84 million project that will bring 142 new housing units, expand the YMCA, and build a 300-capacity childcare development center.
Today we meet with one of the featured families, Dave and Barb Chase, to discuss why they chose Atlantic as a place to live.
Dave Chase was from a small town of about 400 people in central Iowa, and Barb was from Sioux City. Barb was working as a teacher, and Dave said that when he graduated from law school, they were looking for a medium-sized town where they could settle temporarily. He explained that Atlantic was intended to be their “five-year town” before moving to a larger community. In 1973, Dave was offered a job at a law firm in Atlantic.
Barb said they felt very welcome in Atlantic from the beginning.
From then on, Dave and Barb Chase became involved in many aspects of the community and various volunteer opportunities. Over the years, they have witnessed many changes in the community, thanks to people who volunteer their time and remain actively involved.
