(Lincoln, NE) — The Nebraska Cornhuskers will start off the season under the lights of Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and they’re going with a rather unorthodox choice at their starting punter.
Archie Wilson is an 18-year-old from Australia who was a part of the country’s ProKick program, designed to recruit Australian kickers to play American football at the collegiate and professional level. Despite impressing the Nebraska staff with his strong leg, the true freshman has yet to play his first game of organized football according to Rhule:
Rhule credits Wilson’s personality and says that the freshman can do many things will the ball. Rhule also says this will improve his returners in Jacory Barney, Isaiah Mozee, Caleb Benning, and Andrew Marshall:
The Cornhuskers kick off the season against the Cincinnati Bearcats on August 28th at 8:00P.M., and fans are excited to see the Australian freshman take the field for the first time. Audio courtesy of the HuskerOnline YouTube channel.
