(Guthrie Center, IA) — Back to back 10-1 seasons for the AC/GC football team but still no trips to Cedar Falls so its back to work for Head Coach Cody Matthewson this season. Fullback is another spot that Matthewson says is a key spot — Mike Fuller graduated last year and there four guys vying for that spot and Matthewson they could end up using a rotation there. There are two spots on the offensive line that are open as well.
The summer was a productive one says Matthewson as the kids showed up to the weight room in the morning at 5:30 am consistently
AC/GC will be in Class 1A District 7 with AHSTW, Central Decatur, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley, Riverside and Southwest Valley.
Matthewson says there are many similarities with this team to 2023 when the quarterback was up in the air and he decided on South and he never lost a regular season game so he says has faith about making his decision on many spots after a scrimmage against Des Moines Christian on August 22
AC/GC will open their season on Thursday, August 28 hosting arch rival Panorama — the game was moved up because of the Guthrie County Fair.
