(Neola, IA) — Tri Center wrapped its softball season with a 7-21 season but Senior Hayden Thomas had a big year individually, earning 2nd team all-state honors and will take her softball talents to the next level. Thomas will head to Lincoln to play for Nebraska Wesleyan. Thomas finished with a career .386 average with a total of 136 hits, 66 runs, 4 HR, and 61 RBI. She also pitched the last four years for the Trojans but will play in the outfield in college. Thomas is going to a successful program — the Prairie Wolves won 32 games this past season
Nebraska Wesleyan has not yet hired a head coach for softball but Thomas really likes the environment saying even though its in a big city like Lincoln it has a small town feel.
When Thomas was an 8th grader she only hit .189 but skyrocketed up to .472 as a freshman. She says it came down to practice, practice and confidence
Thomas loves the competition of softball and believes the pitchers she faced in the Western Iowa Conference will get her ready to take her game to the next level
Thomas also played volleyball and basketball at Tri Center but is looking forward to just concentrating on one sport at Nebraska Wesleyan
Thomas moves into school on August 20th — she plans on majoring in exercise science and become a physical therapist.
