(Atlantic) – KSOM/KS95 News continues its weekly spotlight on the Vision Atlantic initiative — an $84million project that will bring 142 new housing units, expand the YMCA, and build a 300-capacity childcare development center.
Each installment of the series features insight from project leaders, highlighting different components of the initiative. This week’s focus is on the Recognition of Community Partners and Donors.
Joining us are Liz Hunt-Reed, Co-Chair of the Donor Recognition Committee; Nick Hunt, Vice President of Vision Atlantic and Co-Chair of the Campaign Committee; and Vision Atlantic President Christina Bateman.
Liz Hunt-Reed emphasizes the importance of acknowledging all contributors.
“Everyone who gives — regardless of the amount — is recognized,” she said. “Whether it’s a thank-you note or inclusion on a donor wall for gifts of $500 or more, we want people to feel appreciated.”
For donations of $20,000 or more, naming opportunities are available. Donors could have a family name placed on a classroom, tiny home, gym, playground, kitchen, or conference room.
“It’s a meaningful way to leave a legacy,” Hunt-Reed added.
Nick Hunt says he’s been actively meeting with potential donors and walking them through the project’s vision. Some prefer to designate their gifts toward specific components like the YMCA or the childcare center.
“We’ve raised $23.6 million so far,” he noted. “But we need to reach closer to $30 million by year’s end to unlock an $8.6 million matching grant from the Lake Foundation.”
He says pledges can be made through the end of the year and can be paid over up to four years.
Meanwhile, Christina Bateman reports that the housing portion of the project will begin soon. For more information and updates, visit www.visionatlantic.org.
