(Atlantic) Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Cass County will host a farmland leasing meeting on Wednesday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic.
Presented by Tim Christensen, Farm Management Specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, the workshop is designed for landowners, tenants, and agri-business professionals with an interest in farmland leasing and management.
This year’s meeting comes as the 2025 Iowa farmland cash rental survey reports an average decrease of 2.9% in cash rents, dropping to $271 per acre—the first decline since 2019.
Topics will include land values, cash rent trends, production costs, legal updates, and strategies for fair lease agreements. Issues involving farm estates and succession planning will also be covered.
The two-and-a-half-hour session includes a 100-page workbook with leasing resources. Registration is $25 per person, with a $5 late fee for those who register fewer than two days before the event.
To register, contact the Cass County Extension office at 712-243-1132 or email keolson@iastate.edu.
