(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. Football Head Coach Matt Campbell says there is a lot of competition going on now in pre-season practice. He says there are several positions where players are fighting for playing time. At tailback, Junior Carson Hansen was the leading rusher last season with 766 yards but Junior Abu Sama was not far behind with 629 yards. However, Campbell says they are being pushed by two freshmen — Andrew Flora from ADM and Dylan Lee
There are two other spots where Campbell likes his depth — at linebacker, the Cyclones had a lot injuries there last season and now guys are healthy including Harlan alum Will McLaughlin and Campbell also likes his tight end spot as Ben Brahmer is being pushed by a freshman from Oklahoma
