(Council Bluffs, IA) — The Pottawattamie Board of Supervisors had their weekly meeting on Tuesday morning and approved the regional water Loan Forgiveness Request for the Water Improvement project.
Regional Water and their Contractor have achieved substantial completion of the Pioneer Trail Pipeline project, meaning it can be used for its intended purpose to serve potable water to housing developments along Pioneer Trail. Regional Water certified that the project was substantially completed by June 30, 2025. The work included installing and activating water mains capable of serving at least 500 single-family homes, along with all required engineering, design, land acquisition, and construction work.
Based on the successful fulfillment of all obligations, the Board approved the forgiveness of the loan.
The board also discussed appointing someone for the Interim Engineer Position within the Secondary Roads Department. Today was the last day for Interim County Engineer Brandon Burmeister. Board member Susan Miller says that the county is at risk if the position is not filled as soon as possible.
Miller mentioned they should have a special meeting soon to get an interim engineer appointed and resolutions signed. Board Chair Scott Belt said he would make some calls to see if they can get someone on board.
