(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved updates to Ordinance 7, Veterans Emergency Assistance Program, as presented by Cass County Veteran Affairs Executive Director Mitch Holmes.
Holmes also provided his quarterly and annual reports. For the 2024-25 fiscal year, a total of 423 veterans were assisted. It was also noted that $499,000 in federal funds come into Cass County each month for veterans’ disabilities, widow pensions, and similar benefits.
The Supervisors received a quarterly report from Cass County Conservation Director Micah Lee. Lee reported a delay in the construction of the new Cold Springs Park restroom.
Lee said everything is ready to go at Cold Springs Park, the restroom will take about an hour to be set in place when the time comes.
Lee also noted that the roof of the Hitchcock House and the barn, which sustained storm damage, have been repaired.
In other news, the Supervisors accepted the recommendations of the County Assessor on the military, homestead, homestead 65, and disabled vet tax credits that are allowed or disallowed. The board also received a monthly report from Debbie Schuler, Cass County Community Services Director and Mental Health Advocate.
