(Red Oak) During Tuesday’s Montgomery County Board of Supervisors committee report, Board Chairperson Charla Schmid mentioned Zion Integrated Behavioral Services in Red Oak is closing Harbor Point in Clarinda due to a lack of funding.
Harbor Point provides support services in a residential setting to de-escalate and stabilize a mental health crisis. Typically, a 3-5 day stay during which care coordination, therapy, and supports are provided.
Iowa ranks fourth in the nation for the most significant increase in adult mental health issues since 2022, according to CDC data analyzed by Addiction Treatment Magazine.
In Other business, the supervisors approved an agreement for online code of ordinances from American Legal Publishing. County Auditor Jill Ozuna says the one-time set-up fee is $595.00, and $595.00 annually, with a two percent annual increase.
In another activity, the supervisors voted for a resolution to designate voting representatives for the Iowa State Association of Counties. The board also discussed an additional benefit package for Fiscal year 2027 from IGHCP, but did not take any action. The supervisors concluded the business part of the meeting by amending the motion from July 15 to reschedule the Fiscal year 2026 Budget amendment from August 12, at 9:15 a.m., to August 26, 2025, at 9:15 a.m.
