(Des Moines) Iowa drivers are paying a bit more at the pump this week. According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the state rose by 2 cents, now sitting at $2.95 per gallon. Despite the slight increase, prices remain 34 cents lower than this time last year.
Diesel prices in Iowa also saw an uptick, rising 5 cents to a statewide average of $3.58 per gallon. That’s 5 cents higher than a year ago, but still 16 cents below the current national average of $3.74.
Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline remains steady at $3.16 per gallon.
Global crude oil prices dipped this week. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell $1.48 per barrel to $65.07, while Brent crude dropped 34 cents to $68.33 per barrel. A year ago, WTI was priced at $78.24 and Brent at $82.20.
Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub fell 44 cents this week to $3.09 per MMbtu.
Retail prices for heating oil and propane in Iowa will resume in October.
