(Atlantic) Atlantic swimmer Hunter Quist is coming off a successful summer in the pool. Quist joined the Central Iowa Aquatic Team.
Quist wrapped up his junior season with the Atlantic High School Swim Team and started swimming with the Central Iowa Aquatics squad last March. The extra time invested exemplifies his commitment to achieving significant goals during his senior year on the Atlantic Swim Team.
Quist admits the one-hour and fifteen-minute drive to practice is paying off. Recently, the team competed at Southeast Polk, where Quist participated in five events, winning three of them and achieving a personal best time in the 100-yard freestyle. Additionally, he competed in seven events over two days at the Iowa Games a few weeks ago, earning two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. The gold medals were awarded for his performances in the 50- and 100-yard breaststrokes.
Quist mentions that his experiences and successes over the summer have greatly boosted his confidence as he approaches his senior season. After this weekend, the team will take a break before resuming training later in the month. The boys’ high school swimming season begins in November. Hunter has set high expectations for himself and believes that several other swimmers on the Atlantic team also have the potential to qualify for the state meet.
Hunter says that after this weekend, the team will take some time off before getting back to it later in the month. The boy’s high school season starts in November.
