(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for all of Iowa from noon today through 8:00 this evening. Forecasters are calling for heat index values to reach 105 degrees. Hot temperatures, coupled with high humidity, can cause heat illness.
Meanwhile, there is a slight risk for severe weather in northwest Iowa, followed by a marginal risk for the remainder of northern and western Iowa. Damaging winds will be the main threat. Thunderstorm chances return at intervals from Thursday into Saturday. The overall severe weather threat will be monitored in the coming days.
