(Farragut, Iowa) -A man sustained serious injuries in a tractor-pedestrian accident late Friday afternoon.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at approximately 5:28 PM in the 100 block of Clay Street in Farragut.
According to the report a 1953 Allis-Chalmers WD45 tractor struck a 56-year-old man who was reportedly working on the tractor at the time. After the collision, the tractor continued across an alley and crashed into a nearby fence.
The driver of the tractor identified as Kyle Glen Hale, 39, of Shenandoah, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), 2nd Offense. He was later released on bond. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
The injured man, whose name was not released, sustained serious injuries, and was airlifted by LifeNet to a hospital in Omaha for further treatment.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from the Farragut Fire Department, Farragut Rescue, Shenandoah Fire Department, and Shenandoah Rescue.
Authorities remind the public that criminal charges are only accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
