(Audubon, IA) — When the playoff brackets were released in softball, Exira EHK Audubon and Earlham were not favored to be in the Regional Semifinals but both teams are and they play tonight with a berth in the Regional Finals on the line, coverage on KSOM. The start time has been moved back again to a 8 pm first pitch.
The Spartans upset Pleasantville 4-1 on the Trojans home field and everybody in the line up got at least one hit — Head Coach Tom Petersen says that is the first time this season that has happened
Earlham upset Grand View Christian 7-1 on Wednesday behind Freshman Eden Forcht who gave up only 1 ER on 7 hits and walked one and struck one; at the plate she was 2-4 with a double and 4 RBI. For the season, Forcht has a 3.34 ERA with 128 strikeouts. Senior Hailey Glade leads the offense hitting .500, 3, 17. They are having a down year but beat Audubon last year during the regular season and won 31 games two seasons ago
Petersen says its a great opportunity to host the game tonight and the team is peaking at the right time
Earlham is 114-18, Exira EHK Audubon 15-11, game time tonight is 8 pm coverage on KSOM. The winner will meet either Van Meter or Interstate 35 in the Regional Finals on Monday.
