(Pleasantville, IA) — Exira EHK Audubon will begin their quest for a return trip to the Class 2A Softball state tournament as they visit Pleasantville tonight, coverage on KSOM.
It takes 99.7 miles to go from Exira to Pleasantville and the two teams probably never thought they would be playing one another but here it is. The Trojans are 18-8 in the West Central Conference and led by 8th grader Harper McGraw hitting .469, 2, 28. Their pitcher is Sophomore Lainey Kennedy with a 3.60 ERA. Spartans Head Coach Tom Petersen says there is some unfamiliarity there but his girls will be ready
Exira EHK Audubon is 14-11 but their record may not reflect how good a team this is. After a rough stretch during mid season, the Spartans have beaten some good teams down the stretch — a 6-5 win over #10 Missouri Valley, 8-4 victory against #12 Woodbine, and 3-2 over #3 Newell Fonda. Petersen says there are some reasons for this
Petersen says they will be playing teams in the regionals that are not used to seeing and that can be an advantage — they just need to play their game
Exira EHK Audubon visits Pleasantville in Class 2A, Region 1, game time is at 7 pm tonight, coverage on KSOM.
