(Audubon, IA) — Two conference rivals will face off in the first round of the Class 1A baseball playoffs as Griswold plays Stanton in Audubon with a 5 pm first pitch, coverage on KSOM.
The Tigers and Vikings split their regular season meetings — Stanton winning 8-5 on their field and Griswold winning 5-1 on their field. Tigers Head Coach Ryan Lockwood says both games were close games
Griswold is 8-14 — Lockwood is unsure of his starting pitcher; Bode Wyman is 2-2 with a 4.45 ERA, Kolbie Klindt is 1-4 with a 6.61 ERA and Brayden Lockwood is 0-6 at 5.92. It could be any of those guys and Coach Lockwood will make that decision later today. One thing is sure is that Lockwood likes his hitting coming into the post-season
Stanton is 9-10 and is a solid hitting club led by 8th grader Tristin Elwood (.362, 3, 16), Senior Jacob Martin (.360, 2, 14) and Senior Gavin Ford (.321, 0, 10). Ford is the likely starter for the Vikings and is 5-4 with a 3.76 ERA in seven starts. Lockwood says he locates his pitches well
Stanton will face Griswold in the first round of the 1A Baseball Playoffs in Audubon, first pitch 5 pm, coverage on KSOM. Audubon will host Glidden Ralston immediately afterward also on KSOM.
