(Anita, IA) — The CAM baseball team will take on the Ar-We-Va Rockets tonight in the first round of postseason play, and head coach Mick Long wants to maintain the team’s aggression on the offensive side. Through 19 games where they won 16 and lost three, The Cougars nabbed 144 bases out of 158 attempts during the regular season, and Long doesn’t plan on slowing his runners down in postseason play:
CAM is lead by Carson McKee on the bases who stole 24 in the regular season and wasn’t caught once. Right behind him is freshman Cohen McCann with 23 stolen bases, who will typically courtesy run for catcher Brayden Chester.
CAM has a strong presence at the plate from the top to the bottom of their batting order, and Long likes to split the order in two. Senior Chase Spieker and junior Collin Bower both lead the team in batting average at .460, with Spieker batting second and Bower batting seventh:
Two of the team’s three losses have been in the last five games, and Long says that the team needs to remain focused for the entire game:
The first pitch will be at 7:00 tonight, and coverage will be on KS95.
