(Area) — Kate Crawford was a cross country and track star for the AC/GC Chargers and was in the first graduating class of the combined Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center school in 2020. Recently, she completed her college education and track career at Northern Iowa and this week was named on the Academic All District team for track and field for the second year in a row. She says it is a real honor
At AC/GC, Crawford won the cross country state championship as a freshman in 2016 and in track was a two time silver medalist in the 3000 meters. She says she didn’t even really like running before high school
She was recruited by multiple schools and settled on UNI where Crawford moved up to the 5,000 and 10,000 meters — she finished 16th at the Drake Relays in the 5,000 her senior year. Crawford says the move to the longer races were easy for her
Crawford received multiple honor roll and academic awards while at UNI and ended up majoring in movement & exercise science, got certified as a personal trainer, also added a second major in business economics and recently got her first job out of college with Wolfe Eye Clinic in Ames as a Doctor’s Assistant. She says that her time in cross country and track will help in her new career in many ways
Crawford also recently got married to Chase McAlister and the couple recently got back from their honeymoon in the Bahamas.
