D. Duane “Bax” Baxter, 75, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at his home. Bax is survived by his wife of 42- years, Susan; son, Jesse (Whitney) Baxter; and sister, Janie (Darrell) Staley. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11th at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service lunch will be served in the fellowship hall.
At 2:00 p.m. we will begin Bax’s final ride from the church to the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita. Those riding a motorcycle in the final ride should park on ramp in front of the church. The south entrance at the church will be handicap accessible.
Bax had a huge heart for helping kids in need and community. In lieu of flowers and keepsakes memorials are preferred so they can be donated to the Atlantic Community Schools and the Cumberland Fire Department.
