(Des Moines) The National Weather Service is forecasting one final round of heavy rainfall today through this evening.
A flood watch remains in effect for portions of northwest Iowa through 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches are likely, with locally higher amounts of three to four inches possible.
Flash flooding is possible, especially over areas of saturated ground. River levels are expected to continue rising, with some rivers anticipated to exceed flood stage over the next few days.
A line of storms is expected to redevelop this afternoon, moving from west to east across the state. A few tornadoes are possible in northeast Iowa. Damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall pose additional threats.
