(Carroll) The Atlantic Trojans are on a hot streak this week. After notching two victories on Saturday at the Creston Tournament, the team carried that momentum into the new week, beating Kuemper in the first of two on Monday, defeating Clarinda on Tuesday, and returning to Carroll on Wednesday to finish the weather-delayed second game against Kuemper Catholic with a 13-2 victory.
Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzmann was not sure how the team would respond following Tuesday’s big win over Clarinda.
The Trojans resumed Wednesday’s game already leading 1-0 from Monday’s start. They quickly added one run in the first inning, followed by three in the second and a dominant eight-run third inning to close out a convincing 13-2 win. Hinzmann says Zoey Kirchhoff earned the win for the Trojans in the circle surrounded by errorless defense around her.
Peyton McLaren, Kirchhoff, and Makenna Schroeder each tallied two hits, drove in runs, and crossed the plate themselves.
Atlantic now, 15-8, hosts Shenandoah in a single game tonight starting at 7:30 p.m.
