(Griswold, IA) — After six straight losses to start the season, Griswold’s Baseball team is playing much better. The Tigers have won 3 of their last 5 which included a 5-4 win over Sidney, 8-5 over Stanton and on Friday, they edged Fremont Mills 4-3. Head Coach Ryan Lockwood says there are things they have done much better lately
On the mound, Sophomore Cavyn Turner has found his role is the super reliever — in five games and 9 total innings, Turner is 1-0 with a 2.23 ERA and Lockwood says he is consistently throwing strikes
Offensively, Lockwood would like to see some improvements — the Tigers average 4 runs a game. Bode Wyman is leading the team in hitting with a .333 average and he is currently the only Tiger above 300 but Lockwood is encouraged again by what he has seen in the last week
The schedule this week for the Tigers is mostly on the road — tonight (Monday) Griswold visits winless Essex, Tuesday they visit winless Exira EHK, Thursday its a trip to 4-4 East Mills and the toughest test will be Friday hosting conference leader Bedford.
