(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday appointed an Interim Engineer.
Last week, the Supervisors voted 3-2 to terminate County Engineer John Rasmussen’s contract, effective June 30, and placed him on administrative leave until that date. Supervisor Tim Wichman made the motion with little explanation, stating only that he believes the county needs to move in a different direction. Supervisors Susan Miller and Brian Shea voted against terminating the engineer’s contract. During this week’s meeting, Brian Shea said he would like to know what “new direction” the county is taking.
There was no response to that question.
The Supervisors approved the appointment of Assistant Engineer Brandon Burmeister as Interim Engineer until a new Engineer is hired.
