(Cedar Falls, IA) — Waverly Shell Rock earned the 3A Boys Golf state title on Wednesday but it came down to a tiebreaker in order to earn it. The Go Hawks and MOC Floyd Valley tied for first with a 588 after two rounds — the tiebreaker was the 5th player score in the 2nd round. Both players however shot a 77 so it went to the 6th player and Waverly Shell Rock had the edge 77 to 82. Both teams were eight strokes ahead of 3rd place winner Gilbert. Atlantic finished in 9th with 634 strokes, two strokes ahead of West Liberty’s 636.
Individually, sophomore Parker Rodgers of Nevada shot a 137 through both rounds and solidified his spot as the 3A individual champion. Rodgers was closely followed by seniors Ryan Lynch of Gilbert and Isaiah Zoske of Solon, both shooting a 138 and 140 through both rounds respectively. Hudson McLaren led the Atlantic squad, tying for 31st in the individual rankings with a score of 155.
