(Anita, IA) — In the Class 1A Boys District finals, CAM will host the state qualifier meet today at Crestwood Hills Golf Club. The Cougars won at sectionals last Wednesday in Greenfield and they were not the favorites — Woodbine and Riverside were strong teams but CAM came out on top. Head Coach Joe Wollum says that will help with momentum going into today’s competition
Today’s meet will once again pit Chase Jahde of CAM and Keith Thompson of Hamburg. Thompson beat Jahde for the state title last year minus 2 to minus 1 in a one day shortened event. Thompson beat Jahde earlier this season at a tournament as well.
Also competing individually today will be Hogan Hook of Griswold, Ty Rardin of Nodaway Valley, Mason Reed from Fremont Mills, Laramie Stoaks of Lenox and Gage Sesker from Southwest Valley plus two golfers from Melcher Dallas.
As for the team competition, it will be CAM, Woodbine, Riverside, Mount Ayr, East Union, Bedford, Sigourney, Wayne, Moravia, St. Albert, Sidney and East Mills. Wollum says it will be the other golfers besides Jahde that will be the difference whether CAM finishes in the top three to go to state
They will tee it off at 10:00 am today in Anita.
