(Greenfield, Iowa) Habitat for Humanity has launched a five-day building blitz in Greenfield to construct two new homes for families displaced by last year’s Tornado. Volunteers began work Monday, with plans to complete framing and roofing by the end of the week. Organizers say the families are expected to move in this September.
Four people died and dozens more suffered injuries in the massive Tornado that ripped through Greenfield during the afternoon hours of May 21, 2024.
Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla says the Tornado struck the county road department shed on the south end of town at around 4:00 p.m. The violent twister roared through the town center, leaving a path of damage behind before exiting south of the Fairgrounds.
