(Griswold, IA) — This Thursday is a big night for high school track and field athletes in Iowa — its state qualifying night and Griswold will be hosting a 1A District. Sophomore Carsyn Adams is one of those Griswold Tigers that is hoping she will run on the blue oval next week. Adams has been known for her versatility this season for Griswold — she has competed in 8 different events throughout the season but you can only enter in four this Thursday. She has chosen the Shuttle Hurdle and 4×400 relays plus the individual 400 Hurdles and her best event the 100 Hurdles. She says there are different approaches for the 100 highs and the 400 lows
Adams older sister is Addison Adams who is a Senior but Carsyn seems to be faster than her in most events. Sisters tend to be very competitive and with Carsyn and Addison its no difference but its all friendly
Adams got into track and field because her friends did but last year as a freshman she started to realize that she could not only just compete in races but she could win them
Qualifying for state will not be easy this Thursday — in Class 1A you have to win your race to make it to the state tournament automatically and the rest of the times will be thrown into a group of at large times where the state will take the next 14 best. Adams hopes to be in there somewhere
Griswold will host AHSTW, Ar-We-Va, Bedford, East Mills, Essex, Exira EHK, Hamburg, Heartland Christian, Lenox, Riverside, Sidney, Southwest Valley, St. Albert, and Stanton in girls and boys action this Thursday — we will have live reports from Griswold on KSOM.
