(Davenport) A Coal Valley, Illinois woman was sentenced to six years in federal prison for attempting to orchestrate a murder-for-hire scheme using interstate communication.
Autumn Jeanine Carianna Markley, 30, was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to using interstate facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire, according to court documents and a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
In late 2023, while residing in Colorado, Markley contacted a confidential source in the Southern District of Iowa and solicited them to carry out the murder of one of her relatives. She provided the source with the intended target’s name and address and wired a downpayment using Western Union.
Following her 72-month prison sentence, Markley will serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no possibility of parole in the federal system.
