(Corning, IA) — It was the final chance for many teams to get a track and field meet in before next week’s State Qualifying competition and CAM edged Fremont Mills by three points for the Girls title while Griswold dominated the Boys team standings. Here is the team by team breakdown:
CAM Girls: Ada Hansen won the 400 Hurdles (1:04.51) and was 3rd in the 100 Hurdles (15.66). Hansen was part of the Sprint Medley team with Brookelyn Steffen, Gracie Venteicher and Ruthie Rich with a time of 1:55.60. Ruthie Rich finished first in the 100 (13.00). Courtney Follmann was 2nd in the Discus (106-7).
CAM Boys: Kayden Winther was 2nd in the Long Jump (20-00.25). The Cougars were 2nd in the 4×100, 4×200 and Sprint Medley relays.
Griswold Girls: No wins for the Tigers but Marissa Askeland was 2nd in the 800 (2:50.62); Carsyn Adams was 3rd in the 100 (13.54), 3rd in the 400 Hurdles (1:09.47); and 5th in the 100 Hurdles (16.64). The Shuttle Hurdle team of Reese Laverty, Bristol Wyman, Addison Adams and Carsyn Adams finished 2nd at 1:10.10. Wyman was 3rd in the Long Jump (13-11.25) and Amanda Houser was 3rd in the 400 (1:07.57).
Griswold Boys: Holden Jensen won both long distance runs and got two season PRs (4:43.56 in the 1600 and 10:14.11 in the 3200). The Sprint Medley relay won with a season PR of 1:36.71 with Bode Wyman, Auden Wilson, Peyton Cook and Cody Dorscher. The Shuttle Hurdle relay won (1:00.97) with Wyatt Silk, Wilson, Cook and Wyman. Cook won the 110 Hurdles (15.08) and was third in the 400 Hurdles with a season PR of 57.65. Dorscher won the 400 Hurdles with a season PR of 56.09 and was 2nd in the 400 (52.06). Collin Bowers was first in the High Jump (6-05). The 4×400 relay got a season PR of 3:36.07 and finished 2nd with Wilson, Bowers, Wyman, and Dorscher.
AHSTW Girls: With Bella Lamp out for the season, the Lady Vikes have had to retool and they got three first place finishes in relays. The 4×200 team got a PR of 1:54.73 with Adaline McIntosh, Brooke Lee, Emery Brockhoff and Macey Goshorn. The 4×400 relay won at 4:18.13 with Wyman, Brockhoff, Ava Paulsen and Goshorn. The 4×800 relay won in a slow race (10:45.48) with Paulsen, Goshorn, Brockhoff and Wyman. Ava Paulsen won the 800 (2:35.68). Finally, the 4×100 got a season PR of 53.38 with Lee, Brooklyn Buck, Caitlyn Dills and Loralei Wahling.
AHSTW Boys: Luke Sternberg won 4 races — the 100 (season PR 11.24); 200 (season PR 22.53); 400 (50.29) and was part of the 4×400 relay that got a season PR of 3:35.76 with Colin Harder, Chase Wheatley and Ty Nelson. Harder won the 800 (2:04.46). Harder was also part of the 4×800 relay that won (8:38.79) with Caden Geraghty, Nelson and Wheatley. Geraghty was 4th in the 1600 with a PR of 5:01.02.
Nodaway Valley Girls: Izzy Eisbach had a great meet with a win in the 1500 and a season PR of 5:12.51. She also anchored two relays that both got season PRs. The Distance Medley was 2nd at 4:35.46 with Maddie Weston, Haisley Zoudek, Allie Cornelison and Eisbach. The Sprint Medley was third at 2:01.50 with Weston, Cornelison, Zoudek and Eisbach. Weston was 2n in the 100 (13.36) and 2nd in the 200 (27.74). Jazz Christensen was 2nd in the 3000 (13:59.67).
Nodaway Valley Boys: Trent Warner won the Shot Put (53-01) and was 2nd in the Discus (147-06). Gabe Winkelmann was 2nd in the 3200 with a season PR of 10:23.89. Luke Kading was 2nd in the 1600 (4:58.57) and was 5th in the 800 (season PR of 2:14.57). Caleb Christensen was 4th in the 200 with a PR of 25.40.
Southwest Valley Girls: Mackenzie Richards was 2nd in the Shot Put (33-03).
Southwest Valley Boys: The Timberwolves got two PRs in relays — the Distance Medley won at 3:50.52 with Brody Crozier, Gavin Wetzel, Wyatt Mendenhall and Ian Forsythe and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay finished 2nd at 1:04.99 with Mendenhall, riley Hartman, Walker Bissell and Wetzel. Crozier won the Long Jump (20-02.25) and was 2nd in the 100 (11.35). Mendenhall was 2nd in the 400 Hurdles (56.26). Wetzel was 2nd in the High Jump (6-00).
Other girls winners
Stanton — Hannah Olson won the 100 Hurdles by .01 seconds over Lana Alley of Fremont Mills (15.18 to 15.19). Olson was also first in the 200 (27.30). Lauren Roberts won the High Jump (5-00). Lauren Johnson won the Long Jump (15-10.75). Stanton also won the 4×100 and Shuttle Hurdle relays.
Bedford — Sydney Strong won the 400 (1:04.90)
Essex — Ella Sandahl won the 3000 (12:37.69)
Fremont Mills — First in the Distance Medley (4:31.82). Hayleigh Mattox won both throws (Discus 107-07, Shot 37-00)
