(Treynor, IA) — The Western Iowa Conference is loaded with track and field talent — for instance the top four finishers in the Boys 400 Hurdles all made it to the Drake Relays. That is unheard of for a conference that is largely full of 1A and 2A schools. So times were low on Tuesday’s conference meet and Riverside came from behind to edge Treynor for the Boys team championship while the Treynor Cardinals blew past everyone to win the Girls team title. It was a very fast meet with 13 conference records that were broken. Here is a team by team breakdown:
Riverside Boys: Four relays earned titles for the Bulldogs — the Distance Medley (3:43.82) with Keaten Rieken, Kellen Oliver Brody Henderson and Dawson Henderson; the 4×800 (8:23.21) with Owen Fenner, Eli Hudnall, Landyn Schoenrock and Cruz Jaquez; the Sprint Medley (1:35.30 season PR and WIC meet record) with Jaxon Gordon, Jett Rose, Cole Jeppsen and Maddox Knoke; and the 4×400 relay (3:28.69 season PR) which had to switch its order after Dawson Henderson had to scratch so Gordon, Rieken, Hudnall and Knoke brought it home on the anchor leg.
