(Avoca, IA) — While AHSTW is seeing school records on the track, the boys golf team has quietly put together a good season and they are led by Number One player Drew Lee. The Junior is ranked among the top ten golfers in the Western Iowa Conference and his game has steadily improved each year. Lee says he needs his game to be more consistent
Lee says the strength of his game has been his putting — he has been 1 or 2 putting most greens. His driving has been steady around 280 off the tee. He says he has enjoyed playing in the number one role for the Vikings
Lee remembers starting golf at a young age — his Dad Jessie Lee pretty much taught him the basics with the simple message don’t slice it and swing hard
Lee says he started to get really competitive when he was in 7th grade and the more he played in competitions, the better he got. His score has improved by 8 strokes since he was a freshman
Lee has never been to the state tournament but he feels his game has improved enough to give it a run. AHSTW will be at an 18 hole tournament on Saturday hosted by Logan Magnolia; they go to Sectionals on Wednesday, May 14 at Clarinda.
