(Guthrie Center, IA) — On Saturday at the Drake Relays, the AC/GC Boys 4×100 relay team ran the fastest they had ever run, posting a time of 43.25 seconds which broke a school record. That stood for about 75 hours. On Tuesday night in their next meet at Audubon, the Chargers broke it again running a 43.16. Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Kaden Sorensen and Eli Madsen are clicking right now but Head Coach Cody Matthewson does want his team to be complacent and peak too early
While the 4×100 team is breaking school records, AC/GC has lost a key component of their relays. Senior Jathan South has a broken leg and will be out for the rest of the season ending his Charger athletic career. Matthewson says its a real loss
The Shuttle Hurdle team will go on without South and last night set a season PR with Morgun Nolte, Tate Fever, Tommy Skram and Brexton Schneider losing a close race to Griswold 1:01.50 to 1:01.84. Those two teams won’t meet again until possibly on the blue oval.
With South now out of the line-up, Matthewson has two freshmen that could pick up the slack — Dean Vela and Talon Noland who both have shown versatility
Next up for AC/GC they will host the Gonzales/Parrish Invitational on Thursday.
