(Glenwood) On Tuesday, the Glenwood girls showcased their talent by winning eight events and securing the team title with 138 points at their home relays. They also finished as runners-up in two additional events.
Grace Berglund led the way for the Rams, dominating the 3000 meters with a season-best time of 10:27.20 and winning the 1500 meters in 5:01.39. The Rams’ 800 Sprint Medley Relay Team, comprised of Dougherty, Koontz, Schultz, and Petersen, finished first at 1:53.48. Additionally, the 4×800 relay team of M. Berglund, Hebel, Hughes, and Petersen topped their event with a time of 9:47.85. At the same time, the Rams also claimed victory in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:49.30. The team of Dougherty, Richards, Hughes, and G. Berglund won the Distance Medley Relay in 4:27.31 and secured first place in the 4×400 meter relay at 4:08.80. Brookly Schulz triumphed in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.04. The Rams also took second in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay at 1:10.03. Brecklyn Petersen finished as the runner-up in the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.73.
Lewis Central placed second overall with 115.33 points, winning four events and finishing second in two others. Olivia Ausdemore took the high jump title with a leap of 5-01.00, while Jordyn Matiyow captured gold in both the Shot Put and Discus events with throws of 36-01.00 and 117-04, respectively. The Titans’ 4×100 Meter Relay team, featuring Matthews, Davis, Scheel, and Nelson, finished first with a time of 50.00. Delayna Reese came in second in the 3000 meters, recording a time of 10:50.95, and the Titans’ 4×800 team also secured second place in 9:53.75.
Atlantic finished third with 87 points, where Jayci Reed led the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.07. The relay team of Jones, Bruce, Botos, and Reed won the Shuttle Hurdle Relay in 1:09.20. Lila Wiederstein placed second in the Long Jump at 16-11.00 and also finished as the runner-up in the 100 meters with a time of 12.65. The 4×100 Meter Relay Team of Van Aernam, Reed, Middents, and Wiederstein also took second in their race with a time of 50.82. Morgan Botos secured third in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:13.59, while the Distance Medley Relay team finished third at 4:31.51. The 4×200-meter relay team finished in fourth place with a time of 1:56.41. Stella Van Aernam rounded out the performances with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters at 27.71, while Adler Bruce cleared 4-08.00 to place fifth in the high jump. Olivia Olson finished third in the discus with a throw of 103-02, and sixth in the Shot Put with a toss of 31-00.00.
Clarinda secured fourth place, with Stevie Wilmes and Tatum Comer finishing first and second in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:10.69 and 1:10.86, respectively. Raenna Henke took second in the 1500 meters at 5:12.30, and the team also finished second in the 4×200 relay at 1:50.37. Creston finished fifth, tallying 62.33 points, with standout Kadley Bailey placing second in the 100 hurdles in 16.49. Kenley Sonderman claimed second place in the discus with a throw of 106.07.
Red Oak placed sixth with 48 points, highlighted by Joselyn O’Neal, who won the Long Jump with a leap of 17-04.25 and finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.38. The Tigers secured a second-place finish in the Distance Medley with a time of 4:29.76. Additional highlights included Lili Denton of St. Albert, who dominated the 800 meters with a winning time of 2:15.14, and Grace Erick of Sioux City East, who took victories in both the 100 and 200 meters with times of 12.16 and 25.07, respectively.
