Cyclones Reynolds Will Be a Golfer to Watch As Season Progresses

(Harlan, IA) — If the Harlan Boys Golf team will contend in the tough Hawkeye Ten Conference this year, the Cyclones will need #1 player Jonas Reynolds to lead the way.  A year ago, Reynolds was frustrated with his game even though he was the #2 player for the Cyclones and had a solid 43.59 average.  But he thought he could play better.  This season, he has an averaged just below 40 and is ranked in the top ten in the conference.  Reynolds says his short game has really come around

Reynolds remembers as soon as he could walk his dad put golf clubs in his hands but he did not get really serious with the game until four years ago.  He owes a lot to his Grandpa — Richard Daberkow — who was a former golf coach and he gave him some good advice

The depth on the boys side in the Hawkeye Ten is tough with St. Albert, Atlantic, Clarinda, JJ Martin of Shenandoah ranks third.  Reynolds needs the confidence to believe he can play with these guys

Reynolds has never been to the state tournament but he has seen others do it and so maybe the belief is starting to set in that he can play good enough to be at the state tournament this year

Harlan will be playing in the Monarch Invitational today hosted by Denison Schleswig at Majestic Hills Golf Course.
