(Atlantic) The Cass County Master Gardeners are kicking off the gardening season with two events in May.
On Saturday, May 10, the group will host its annual Spring Plant Sale from 8 to 10 a.m. in the front parking lot of the Cass County Community Center, located on the fairgrounds at 805 W 10th Street in Atlantic. A variety of perennial plants, garden tools, décor, books, and more will be available for a free-will donation. Proceeds support local gardening projects, scholarships, and educational outreach. The sale also features contributions from the Atlantic FFA, including tomatoes, peppers, and annuals.
Later in the month, on Wednesday, May 21, the Master Gardeners will hold their annual Bus Trip, offering a full day of garden tours, educational stops, and nursery visits near Lorimor, Cumming, and Norwalk. The bus departs the Atlantic fairgrounds at 8 a.m. and returns around 6 p.m. The $65 fee includes transportation, a meal, and snacks. Registration is open to the public and due by May 15 or until the bus is full.
The Cass County Master Gardeners use funds raised from events like these to support community garden projects, educational programs, and scholarships. Additional upcoming events include a Garden Walk on June 22 and the Fall Plant Sale on September 13.
