(Cass County, Iowa) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office released more information on the two vehicle crash south of Atlantic on Tuesday.
According to the report, on April 22, 2025, around 8:09 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup at the intersection of Oxford Road and 630th Street.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 83-year-old Jon Hill from Cumberland was traveling west on Oxford Road and had come to a stop at the intersection. As he entered the intersection, his vehicle was struck by a northbound 2008 Peterbilt semi driven by 43-year-old Jefferey Meyer, also from Cumberland.
Jon Hill suffered injuries from the accident and was taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital for initial treatment, subsequently being transferred to a hospital in Omaha for additional care. The semi-truck driver was unharmed in the incident.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Lewis and Cumberland Fire and Rescue Departments, along with Cass EMS.
The matter is still under investigation.
