(Jefferson, IA) — The AC/GC Track and Field teams competed at Greene County on Tuesday and the boys walked away with a team title while the girls had some solid performances.
AC/GC Girls: Ava Campbell won the 1500 and got a season PR in the process at 4:54.62. Campbell was also part of the 4×800 relay team that got a season PR of 10:42.93 with Brooklyn Shafer, Cadence Petersen and Lilli Lauzon. The Distance Medley relay also won with Makenna Gruber, Savannah Akers, Nora Langgard and Campbell (4:26.23). Shafer finished 4th in the 800 with a season PR of 2:43.81 and Langgard finished 5th in the 200 with a season PR of 28.93. Petersen was 2nd in the High Jump.
AC/GC Boys: The Chargers had four relay wins and two of them got season PRs. The 4×100 team of Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Kade Sorensen and Eli Madsen ran a 43.51 — they currently rank 46th in the state and 4th in Class 1A. They had already qualified for the Drake Relays and will be running on the blue oval this Saturday. The 4×200 also got a season PR of 1:31.85 with Crawford, Talon Noland, Dean Vela and Madsen. The Shuttle Hurdle relay won (1:03.40) with Tate Fever, Nolte, Tommy Skram and Schneider. The 4×400 relay won (3:32.13) with Vela, Noland, Sorensen and Madsen.
Individually, Tate Fever won the 400 Hurdles at 56.03 and was 2nd in the 110 Hurdles. Brexton Schneider won the 110 Hurdles at 15.44 seconds. Dean Vela won the 200 at 23.39 seconds. Preston Kent was 2nd in the 2 mile; Luke Brincks was 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 400 with a season PR of 52.91; Joe Crawoford was 4th in the 100; Kade Sorensen 4th in the 400 with a season PR of 53.36; Mike Fuller was 3rd in the discus; and Mason Wahl was 4th in the discus with a season PR of 136.05.
