(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central won five events, and scored 140 points and captured the team title on their home track on Tuesday. Glenwood finished second with 104.50, Clarinda, third, 80, and Atlantic finished fourth with 66.60 points.
Lewis Central’s Evan Lillie had a standout performance, winning both the 3200 meters with a time of 9:45.22 and the 1600 meters in 4:29.19. The Titans also excelled in relays, claiming victory in the 4×800 meter relay with Arkfeld, Cox, Selken, and Lillie crossing the finish line in 8:28.15. They added another win in the Distance Medley Relay, as Mortensen, Ayres, Fagan, and Arkfeld posted a time of 3:45.06.
Kenny Coots won the 800 meters in 2:01.30, with Jackson Cox finishing third in 2:04.10. Carter Thielen secured second place in the High Jump, clearing 5-08.00, while Carter Longbaugh took second in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 57.22.
Glenwood’s Chase Razor captured first place in the High Jump, clearing 6-02.00. The Rams also had strong relay performances, finishing second in both the 800 Sprint Medley (1:36.61) and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, where Powles, Simonetti, Pitzen, and Lopez combined for a time of 1:03.58.
Bryce Keller earned a second-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:03.06, while Haze Stephens took second in the 400 meters with a time of 51.57. Nathan Anderson of Thomas Jefferson won the 400 meters with a time of 50.16.
Clarinda opened the meet with a strong statement, winning the 800 Sprint Medley Relay as Wyman, Roop, Hawley, and Phillips combined for a time of 1:35.43. The Cardinals continued their dominance on the track, also claiming first place in both the 4×200 (1:31.89) and the 4×100 Meter Relay (43.66) with the team of Wyman, Phillips, N. Wagoner, and Roop.
Kaiden Roop earned his second gold of the meet with an impressive leap of 21-06.50 in the Long Jump. In distance action, Kyle Wagoner delivered a strong performance in the 3,200 meters, finishing second with a time of 9:45.22.
Atlantic’s Xavier Darrow continued his strong run in the Discus, earning first place with a throw of 151-00. Teammate Gavin McLaren also contributed to the team’s success, placing eighth with a mark of 128-09. McLaren later secured a runner-up finish in the Shot Put, recording a personal-best toss of 53-09.00.
The Trojans’ 4×800 Meter Relay team—Williams, Rudy, Meisinger, and Betts—grabbed second place with a time of 8:35.31. The 4×400 Meter Relay team of Tyson O’Brien, Shelton Mualia, Colin Rudy, and Preston Williams also claimed second, posting a season-best time of 3:33.69.
Atlantic’s 4×100 Meter Relay squad—Killion, McNeal, Hansen, and Houser—finished third with a time of 44.00, while the 800 Sprint Medley team of Hansen, Houser, McNeal, and Killion took fifth in 1:38.77.
Shelton Mualia added a fifth-place finish in the 110 Meter Hurdles, clocking 16.17. In the 400 meters, Devon Fields placed fifth with a time of 53.29, and Tyson O’Brien followed in eighth at 55.02. Jaxon Hepler achieved a personal best in the 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing sixth in 58.98.
Rounding out the distance events, Mason Betts took seventh in the 1600 meters (4:53.86), and Luke Irlmeier claimed eighth in the 3200 with a time of 11:20.75.
Red Oak’s Cale Hall had a strong showing, finishing second in both the 100 meters with a time of 11.31 and the 200 meters in 23.02. Sioux City East’s Quintin Pollard won the 100 meters in 11.17, while Nathan Anderson claimed victory in the 200 meters with a time of 22.58. Brayden Sifford also impressed, taking third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.08.
The Tigers’ Distance Medley Relay team—Hall, Fouts, Sifford, and Grass—earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:46.64.
Underwood had a strong performance, winning the Shuttle Hurdle Relay with a season-best time of 1:01.69, thanks to Bose, Hultquist, Hull, and Hulsing. Hulsing and Bose continued their success by finishing first and second in the 110 Meter Hurdles, with times of 15.22 and 15.64, respectively.
